In this project we created a book that had our unique and different stories, each student in our team wrote a non-fiction piece about something that they cared about. My story was about the future career I would want to pursue and being nervous because I don't know what I want to be yet. The pieces in our writing process were Project: The Book of Us, My Mentor Text-Graphic Organizer, Golden Line- Portrait, Down Draft of Writing Piece, and Final Draft of Writing Piece.

Reflection: My first thought was to do a writing piece about how I had been stereotyped in the past, writing about my experience with being characterized as something I am not because of my appearance, but then something just clicked inside me and I knew what I wanted to write about. I ended up deciding to write my piece about what future career I might want to pursue, this had been an on going and recent issue that I had been dealing with, the pressures of having to decide what we want to become. The feedback that I got from my first draft was that it wasn't really a writing piece yet, it was just all my ideas being put into sentences. I noticed this as well. It was more of a outline of all my ideas, I had so many ideas and I had just put them all out onto the paper. I changed my writing by making it flow more; adding things like quotes, statistics, and personal stories. I had to turn my thoughts into sentences and then into paragraphs, so that readers could understand and hopefully relate to what I was currently going through. Something that I did in this project that I will do again in the future is sticking to a gut feeling. I had a whole first draft already written out but I decided to change my piece completely and I feel like this paid off. I decided to not just take the easy way out and refine my already written piece but to change it completely and start from scratch again. Although I don't think that my piece is perfect and not nearly close to it, I like how my piece turned out and I feel that it wouldn't be the same if I changed it.
