Exhibition: California Innocence Project
Rating our presentation 1-4, 1 being the lowest and 4 being the highest, I would rate my group a 3.5. We did do a good job but there were a fees places that we could have improved on. We stated why we didn't think our client shouldn't have been exonerated but in the end the lawyer pointed out that we should have included one detail into out presentation that we talked about but it wasn't in the powerpoint. I would also rate my participation in the group a 3.5 because I did contribute a lot to the group but of course I could always improve and have done more. The high point of the project was when my group completed the presentation and we did an awesome job, and the low point of the presentation was having to decide whether our client was guilty or not and if we were going to be able to do anything about it. Its hard not getting attached to the clients.
XONR8 Project
We are working with the California Innocence Project to review real life cases with groups of 3 to 4 students. In our groups we will review these cases and decide whether or not our client is innocent or guilty, and if there is new evidence that we could help find that could prove their innocence or vise versa. After reviewing our cases, writing case memos, and making a presentation, we will be presenting our case to lawyers discussing with them whether we think our client is innocent or guilty and if there is enough new evidence to further the investigation. While doing this we will be learning about many different aspects of the criminal justice system.

#sourcecode
In our project we were in groups of 4, in these groups we were each assigned a role, I was the biologist. Our end goal was to create a info graphic with information about the person whose genome we had. The first thing we had to do was create a code that would analyze the DNA in order to determine ancestry and disease susceptibility. From this code we found out disease likelihood for the person and where they came from, this is the information that we put it into our info graphic.
Role I played: I was the biologist in my group, so my job was to find out more information about the diseases that our person had a likelihood of getting, and also more information about where our person was from. After doing this research I gave all this information to the artist and helped them out with creating the info graphic. Challenges that I faced and conquered in this project: The challenges that I faced during this project were learning to code, but not just knowing how to do it but understanding what each of the pieces of code mean and what they are doing. Lessons I learned that will stick with me after high school: I learned that I even when I'm not the best at something it doesn't mean that I cant do it and be successful. Lots of time I struggled during this project, but I learned that struggling made me learn more. |
