Conversational Prep - Sculptures: Stories of Empowerment
PART 1: Content Area Goals
The Content Area that I have grown in the most this semester was VSXu and also Design. At first when using VSXu I struggled to understand and remember what all the different modules did, after playing around with the program and also getting help from my peers and groupmates I started to get the hang of it. Some of the main modules that I used were input_visualisation_listener, which used the microphone on the computer to create a signal from the sound waves on the computer, another one was 3float_to_float3 which packaged three different frequencies into one, and the third one colored_rectangle simply creates a rectangle in the middle of our image which also moved as well. I had never created a performance before with so many different components so I grew in the Design process by really thinking about the emotions and feelings that we wanted people to feel throughout our performance. With that in mind we had to make something that would have people evoke these feelings, and we did that by getting our work critiqued by our peers and asking them what they felt by watching and listening to our visuals. I believe that I MEET the criteria for VSXu and that I EXCEED the criteria for Design. I believe that I MEET the criteria for VSXu and that I EXCEED the criteria for Design.

PART 2: Cross-Disciplinary Goals
I grew in Collaboration and Responsibility/Work Completion. My group really help me grow a lot in collaboration and I think this was because we had very different and unique personalities in our group and everyone had something different but very useful to add to the group. I learned that everyone has their own comfort levels and sometimes it might be easier to just let people be in those comfort levels, but then you aren't really helping out your peers. In order to have a successful project you have to push your groupmates to extend some of their comfort levels as they push you to do the same. It's about give and take. This semester also made me realize that I still had room to grow in the Responsibility/Work Completion departement. I grew here by learning to ask for help when it was necessary, especially because we were working with programs that I wasn't familiar with it made me step out and ask for help. I mainly asked for help from my groupmates and when I still needed something more I would go to other peers in the classroom. I believe that in Collaboration I MEET the expectations and I EXCEED the expectations in Responsibility/Work Completion. In Collaboration I feel that there is always room for improvement because of all the different kinds of people you will have to work with, you never know what a person's personality is like and how it will match up against your own. I think that I’ve always been good at turning in my work on time and being a responsible student, and the one thing that I was lacking was the confidence to ask other for help and I feel that this semester I really gained that.

PART 3: Self-Identified Goals
The personal goal that I have identified for myself in bringing up my confidence level. I have grown in this area by not being scared of the work we are given in engineering class, I did this by having a good mindset whenever approaching an assignment in class. If I had an open mind before trying to work on a program that wasn't easy for me to use it was a much faster process to have a clear mind when trying to create my product than when I was doubting myself. By gaining confidence in myself instead of giving up before I even tried, I really expanded my horizons and learned a lot more than I would have if I just would have stayed in my comfort zone. I believe this is a personal goal of mine because mentally I have always told myself that I wasn't good at building things and other things that engineering entails. I think that I am currently at MEET for my confidence level in my confidence in engineering. The evidence I have is that I am now able to tackle a problem straight on when it is given to me, whereas before I would have hesitated and questioned myself. I have been able to do this by asking questions so that I don't just stay stuck on a problem when I need help. Also sometimes letting myself struggle and play around with a program for a while before asking for help, and my curiosity helped me out with this a lot.

PART 4: Grade Negotiation
My most significant learning this year has been to be a curious learner. This is something that has helped me in all my subjects this year. The way that it has helped me in engineering class has been to help me explore more while using the different programs that we were learning about. In order to really grasped the programs you had to play around with them and see all the effects that they could produce. The struggles that I have faced this semester have been wanting to step out of my comfort zone and be able to let myself ask questions and be fully engaged, also not be afraid to ask the “wrong question”. This shaped my learning because it was something I knew I was struggling with and with that in mind I wanted to conquer this problem that I was having. One that I struggled to grow in this semester was Social/Emotional Health, this is one that I struggled with because I think that I stressed myself out with outside of school things that I had to do. This is something I feel i had been improving in previous years, but took a slight downfall this semester because of extracurricular activities I had. The letter grade that I would give myself would be an A, because I do feel that I grew a lot in this class as well as I pushed myself to soak in everything that we were thrown our way.
