Independent Reading Book Review
The book I decided to read was The Social Animal, by David Brooks, the first things that drew me into picking up this book to see what is was about was the title of the book. After reading what the book was about, I knew that this was the book that I wanted to read. I have always been very interested in psychology, but had never read a book related to it.
The main point of the book is to describe human nature and society; there are two stages of the mind conscious and the other unconscious. Our unconscious thoughts, said to be more important, are our emotions, desires, social norms, and perceptions. What I read in the book is that, the human mind is usually unconscious.
When I first started reading the book I was kind of of confused, it started off by mentioning a guy and describing him. I had thought that this book wouldn't talk about specific people, but rather specific peoples actions and why they do those actions. Later on I came to realize that Brooks used these two imaginary people Erica and Harold to explain his thoughts of human nature and society. He takes you through their lives but from a perspective of a psychologist. With each experience that happens in their lives, he explains the psychological aspect of it.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the human mind and psychology. I enjoyed reading it and hope to read another book like it soon.

Letter To My Future Self
Dear Daniela,
You will mostly likely be reading this at the end of Junior year, instead of writing about what I hoped happened in Junior year I decided to write what I hope will happen Senior year. I thought, lets mix it up a little, I'm always thinking about the past and over thinking every little thing thats happened. I wanted to focus on the future for a change, you know that long distant thing that you never see coming until BOOM its suddenly about to be your senior year. I hope that I am not feeling this way when Im reading this, but knowing myself I probably will be. So some tips that I have for myself are to not give up, even when quitting seems easier, and the stress levels get high, take a couple deep breaths and relax. Also to use my over thinking as a strength instead of having it be one of my weaknesses. I've always been way to much in my head, over anylyzing situations multiple times, instead I need to be reflective over situations, not over anylyze. For senior year I hope that you stress a little less, think a little more, and… Couldn't finish this sentence because I couldn't find the exact words for what I was trying to say. Another typical Daniela thing, not wanting to do something in fear of it being wrong. Hope that senior year you will let go of the thought of making mistakes, and that mistakes are a sign of weakness.
love,
Younger Daniela

1. Success always comes along with failure.
2. Have one twin, still one person.
3. Rainy nights require some hot tea.
4. My love for soccer is undeniable.
5. Green eyes staring back at me.
6. My family is my whole world.
7. Big curly hair, don't really care.
8. Puerto Rico todavía tiene mi corazón.
9. Cherish the wonderful and unforgattable moments.
10. Who am I? Who will I become?

Prompt: Things Adults Have Forgotten About Our Age Group
I think that the thing that adults have forgotten about our age group is that we have many pressure at this age. We are being expected to shape our lives at a young age, when our brains haven't fully matured yet. What I would like adults to remember is that we will make mistakes, and they will have to get mad at us. What really matters is if our intentions are good and if we are trying our best to succeed. Along the way we will need their help, even if we might think that we can do it all ourselves sometimes, and sometimes we may or may not ask for it. As much as everyone else is trying to figure us out, we are still trying to figure ourselves out. So the main things that you need to remember about us are patience (lots of it), love, and forgiveness.

“All-time Greatest Panel”
In this project there were partnerships of 2 students that picked different historical figures to act as during the panels that we held. During the panel, we had a facilitator who asked us different questions and the audience also got to ask us different political questions.
Project Reflection
I think the moment that summarized the whole project was when the fifth graders started asking questions and commenting on what we were saying. It was empowering to know that we had in some way maybe interested them in american history through the panel. I was proud of the opening statement that Sierra and me wrote, I created the first draft and even though it was shaky I think it had some good points and it became even better when Sierra helped me edit it. I am most proud of transforming into this person and sticking to that thought out the panel, and the lessons that I've learned from this project is seeing a lot of political views from a different persons point of view and all the situations that they went through to get them to these conclusions.
